Setting the Record Straight

After the craft show, I let Allison pick out two pair of beaded socks for herself.  (I wouldn’t let her have any before the craft show!)  She wore one pair to bed last night.  This morning, after getting dressed, Allison left the socks on the family room floor and Carter was thinking of wearing them.

Ever the helpful sister, Allison explained:

Those are girl socks.
Those are not boy socks.
I’m a girl and you’re a boy.
Those are not handsome!
They are pretty.
Boys are handsome and girls are pretty.

I guess that satisfied Carter because he moved on to play with other things…

Kids at the Craft Show

Here’s what the kids did at the craft show last Saturday…

FACE PAINTING

JUST HANGING AROUND

There was also a “train” ride that they went on several times.  And there was some outstanding dancing by Allison.  And a little bit of boogieing on Carter’s part, too.  All in all, despite the low sales, it was a fun time!

Allison’s Big Idea

Allison says:

Hey!  I have idea! [She claps]
If we are all good and don’t stand on any beds,
we can have a picnic.  And a movie.  In our pajamas!

Mommy says:

OK.

“Boy! Bed.”

Carter got a big boy bed over the weekend!  He was excited once we started buying the comforter and mattress.  He was really excited once we started putting it together.  The bed is the top part of a bunk bed…  We bought the whole bunk bed, but figure we won’t bunk it until he’s bigger.  He’s slept in it since Friday with no problems…  I think he figured out how to climb out of it just this afternoon, so we’ll see what happens tonight!

While we were setting it up, he was running around calling it Boy! Bed
Now he calls it a bonk bed
(We said bunk, but Carter heard bonk.

All the cuteness was Mommy Heaven…

Bubble Lizard

Allison calls this the “Bubble Lizard”.
“Because it makes lizards out of bubbles!”

Look at that happy baby face on Carter!
(I have to call him a “baby” now because in just 7 days
he’ll be two… where has the time gone?!)

If you take a closer look, you will notice that the bubble maker is actually called the Bath Blizzard.  It’s pretty cool.  Allison took at least a 45 minute bath with it the other day.  Carter tried to challenge her record today!

I SOLD

2 ponchos
3 girls purses
1 felted bowl
7 pair of beaded socks

Hummm.  It’s a good thing Jim still has his day job!

I had an offer from our Gymboree Play & Music to bring my ponchos there to sell.  I’m thinking that or www.etsy.com might be a more lucrative path to follow.  But first, I am going to enjoy an evening without knitting!  (I’m shocked that I just said that!)

The Joy of Naptime

Ahhh…  Naptime is over for today.  We have all emerged from it rested and a little less grumpy!

I love naptime.

Tractor

When the tractor was plowing the field behind our house, Carter stood at the guest bedroom window to watch.  Now that the tractor has been gone…for two weeks…he goes to the window every day to look for it.

Sometimes he says, “Track-er.  Dawn.”  (Tractor gone.)

Other times he says, “Dare, dare.  Tack-er.  Is.”  (There, there the tractor is!)  –He sees several tractors parked at a farm equipment rental place.

Sometimes he tell us about the dogs in the neighbors backyard.

Mostly, he stands and waits for the day that the tractor will come back to plow the field.

Notice the green haze in the field… something is just beginning to grow.  I wonder what it will be?  And more importantly, will it be exciting enough to make Carter quit talking about tractors?

Nesting

On Monday, instead of napping, Allison made herself a little nest among the pillows on our bed.  She cuddled up to watch TV.
