Carter’s Pants

Daddy has been letting Carter take his own pants off when it’s time to change into PJs at bedtime…  No, that’s not quite right.  Daddy has been ENCOURAGING Carter to take his own pants off at bedtime.  Of course, Allison gets undressed and dressed into PJs by herself at bedtime.  I’m usually picking up toys or putting things away or reminding Allison that’s it’s getting-ready-for-bed time, not wild-and-crazy time.  So, I think I can claim innocence for the the problem that has been occurring with Carter’s pants.

That is… Last night when I went in to check on the kids before I went to bed, both little angels are sound asleep - and Carter’s PJ pants were on the headboard of Allison’s bed.  How did they get there?  I’ll bet my young son took them off by himself and flung them out of his crib.  See, not only can he take his pants off by himself, but he’s also working on his pitching arm.  And if the bulls eye is the window blinds, I’d say he’s got a shot at the major leagues!  But that’s another story…

For today’s nap-time adventure, Carter took his pants and diaper off.  This was not the first time he has accomplished this amazing feat.  Oh no.  It’s been about a week now since I have required that a onesie be used as part of his nighttime sleeping attire.  In this house we consider a onesie to be “the thing that holds the diaper on”.  It seems to be working at night…so far.  But I imagine it’s only a matter of time before our bright little guy figures out how to get that off too!

It’s a Gymboree Day!

Today was “Mom’s Monday” at our Gymboree.  We joined our STA Moms group for some fun Gymboree style!  Today’s theme was “Making Pizza” - we put red, yellow, and orange balls into the big cylinder and then put the kids in to “mash” them with their feet.  Blue hoops were pepperoni’s that the kids could lift up and walk through.   They made themselves into sausage and rolled down a wedge hill - Carter loved that!  And then came the Gymboree “air log”  it was first a rolling pin that rolled over all the kids to flatten the “dough”.  This was a big hit with Allison!  Carter even participated since he’ll do almost anything Allison does!  Next the air log was a cheese slicer…  We lifted it high in the air and the kids had to run under it before it came down to “slice the cheese” - both kids took turns being “sliced”!  Thank goodness the Gymboree “cheese” was milk free today!

Of course the session wrapped up with the Gymboree staples… Freeze on the air log, bubbles, parachute time, and a dance with Gymbo.  Oh yes, and Gymbo stamps for everyone…  Carter got his stamps on the backs of both hands, on both feet and on his tummy.  Allison got similar stamps - including on her tummy!

We all had a really good time… I think Carter, especially, like having Allison there today.  He watches everything she does and tries to copy her!
