We Do More Before 8:00 AM Than Most People Do All Day

This is how our day started…

QUIET CHILDREN
Carter and Allison are quietly watching TV together when Daddy came up to wake me at 6:20 AM.  (Click the thumbnails to see bigger pictures.)

CARTER LOOKING AT A BUG
Here is Carter looking at a bug out our sliding glass door sometime before 7:00 AM  (Daddy took this picture before I came downstairs.)

ALLISON’S SORE FOOT
Allison is complaining that her left foot hurts.  She said it hurt last night and then was limping or trying not to walk on it this morning.  So, as Daddy was leaving for work at 7:00 AM,  I helped her potty and get her pants on.  I sat her up on the changing table to get her dressed. –She hasn’t been on the changing table in a long time!  When she was dressed I asked her if she wanted to walk or if I should carry her to the chair to watch TV.  She said, “Carry me you.  This is a carry project.”
I gave her Motrin and we put an icepack on her foot for about 10 seconds and then she got up to play.  She’s walking and running and jumping now, but she’s still limping, too.  If she’s not better by Monday I’ll take her to the doctor. I don’t know of anything she stepped on or tripped on yesterday…  Sometimes it’s a mystery. (Which makes Mommy a detective!)

CARTER PLAYS BEEK-A-BOO
So, my little guy finally went outside - but it wasn’t long before he poked his little face in and waited for me to walk by…  As I walked to the kitchen, here is how our conversation went:
     CARTER:  Boo. Boo. Boo.
     ME:   Boo!
     CARTER:   Ha!

A TAIL LIKE A COMET
Around 7:30 AM, Allison decided that she wanted to be a comet and wanted me to tuck a scarf in the back of her pants for a tail.  Of course, Carter was next in line with a scarf and wanting a tail, too.  I could only snap a picture of Carter… Allison moves to much and then pulled her “tail” out and laid it down on the floor for a “picnic blanket”.

I know…  Surely you are thinking that our children are brilliantly advanced to know so much about comets!  But to tell the truth, we watched “The Magic School Bus” yesterday and on the show they went to space and saw a comet - which, we learned, is made of ice and has a tail.  James tells me that the tail of a comet is made of ice particles and other comet debris.  And he adds, “Interestingly, the tail always points away from the sun.  Due to solar wind.”  He’s a walking encyclopedia.

CARTER’S DIAPER RASH
Carter has a diaper rash and screamed and twisted and turned so much at his diaper change this morning that I thought I might have to take him outside and hose him off to get him clean.  But, Mommy won the wresting match.  I got him clean and dry so his little bottom and heal.  Poor little guy.

We did all of this… plus sippie cups of juice, breakfast for the kids, and Mommy’s coffee… before 8:00 AM.
