Reward for Good Behavior

Monday, September 29th, 2008

This is Allison’s reward for a day of dry pants and no time-outs.

Fisher Price Online Alphabet Game

Carter gets to watch.  He’d love to get a chance to push the buttons on the keyboard, but so far his hasn’t had a day without a time-out.  Poor Carter.  It’s hard to be so little and have big people around that tell you, “no” when all you did was hit your sister with a toy.

Goodbye Kisses

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Daddy gives kisses all around before he leaves for work in the morning.  This morning, Carter had a special request after his regular kiss:

CARTER:  Kish.  Top.  Hair.

He wanted a kiss on the top of his head.

Birthday Shout Out to Nana!

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to Nana!
Happiest Birthday to you!

We love you Nana!  Hope you have a very good birthday today!

Dirtiest Goes First

Monday, September 29th, 2008

DADDY:  Clean up these toys, kids.  It’s almost time for one of you to go for a bath.
ALLISON:  Me?
DADDY:  Carter first.  He’s dirtier.
ALLISON (disappointed):  Am I dirty?
DADDY:  Yes, but not as dirty as Carter.
ALLISON (sadly):  Very dirty?

Sweater

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

I knitted a sweater for Allison!  A complete sweater!  And it only took me about a week and a half!  I said before… I am knitting like crazy!  Next on the knitting list – a matching sweater for Carter.

I was told, once, that I always have a disclaimer in which I point out the flaws in whatever I have done…  So I am going to refrain from doing that here and instead just be thrilled with my accomplishment.  I’ve only been knitting since August!  Considering that, this sweater is darn near perfect!

If you are so inclined, you can find the sweater instructions here.

Saturday Morning Cartoons

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

My 3 year old daughter just finished watching “The Spectacular Spiderman” cartoon on TV and has now moved onto “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.  (Both shows are rated Y-7, although I think Y-12 would be more accurate. And this is a rare treat to be allowed to watch these cartoons.)

How can my little girl who’s favorite color is pink also be such a big fan of superheros?  The superhero part is from her Daddy.  I’ll take credit for the pink girly girl part.

Allison Winking

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Earlier this week, Allison said, “Mom, I’m winking.”  When I looked at her face, all I saw was a scowl.  I didn’t let her know this, of course.  Instead, I praised her for her great winking ability and asked her to do it again for the camera.

Here’s her “wink”:

Shadows

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Although we are still having high’s in the 100’s, the evening sun brings a welcome cool-down and is perfect for playing outside and making shadows on the wall.

Miss Know-It-All

Friday, September 26th, 2008

ALLISON:  I know everything!
ME (seeking clarification):  You know everything?
ALLISON:  I’m a kid.  I know.

Since she knows it all, I guess college would be a waste of our money.
