Jerry Lewis Telethon
September 1, 2008 by Amy Jo.
Due to a late evening at the emergency room, the kids schedule was all messed up last night - which led to both kids being awake in the middle of the night. After a couple of failed attempts to get Carter back to sleep, Allison woke up. We threw in the towel and all sat down on the upstairs futon to watch TV. What was on at 3 am? The Jerry Lewis Telethon. The talent was mediocre. The family time was sweet. When Mom and Dad couldn’t stay awake any longer, we went through our regular night time ritual - prayers, a story, tuck-ins, and a lullaby. Carter slept until 8 am and Allison slept until after 9 am.

Update on Carter
September 1, 2008 by Amy Jo.
Carter is improving.
We went to the emergency room last night just so the doctor could tell us that everything is fine and the antibiotics will start working in the next 24 hours or so… Ok, I knew that already. However, the Goodnight Pediatrics doctor warned us that IV antibiotics might be necessary if we saw any pus (I know, ick!). We saw pus. So we went to the ER like good, loving, and responsible parents. The ER doctor at Phoenix Children’s Hospital was great and sat down to explain what to watch for and what would be an emergency situation. She assured us that Carters infection (in his…uhm…diaper area) is something they see regularly and that pus (ick!) is the body’s normal process.
Our little guy’s “diaper area” is looking better today.
