The Joy of Naptime

Ahhh…  Naptime is over for today.  We have all emerged from it rested and a little less grumpy!

I love naptime.

Tractor

When the tractor was plowing the field behind our house, Carter stood at the guest bedroom window to watch.  Now that the tractor has been gone…for two weeks…he goes to the window every day to look for it.

Sometimes he says, “Track-er.  Dawn.”  (Tractor gone.)

Other times he says, “Dare, dare.  Tack-er.  Is.”  (There, there the tractor is!)  –He sees several tractors parked at a farm equipment rental place.

Sometimes he tell us about the dogs in the neighbors backyard.

Mostly, he stands and waits for the day that the tractor will come back to plow the field.

Notice the green haze in the field… something is just beginning to grow.  I wonder what it will be?  And more importantly, will it be exciting enough to make Carter quit talking about tractors?

Nesting

On Monday, instead of napping, Allison made herself a little nest among the pillows on our bed.  She cuddled up to watch TV.

Very Sad

Grandma and Nana, grab your tissue before you read on…

Allison has been nothing but backtalking, dawdling, and trouble today.  But this will break a Mommy’s heart…

Today while Carter napped Allison and I were going to clean the bathroom then she could take a bath with a new bubble making toy that she bought with a birthday giftcard.  -But after a morning of backtalking me and not listening, the fun has been taken away and she’s in my room for a nap instead.

She’d been crying for at least 15 minutes when she came into the computer room…

ALLISON:  Mommy, you made me very sad.
ME:  You made me very sad, too, Allison.

She started to cry - real crying, not tantrum crying - and went back to the bedroom.  Awwww.

It’s hard being little!  (It’s not exactly easy being a Mommy, either!)
