All Boy

Carter and I took the car for a carwash after dropping Allison at preschool this morning.  It’s a local drive-through wash that they have converted from self-service to full-service.  So, two guys are there to put your money in the machine, direct you as you drive into the car wash, then they dry it and clean the interior for you.  All this for $10.  But it did take quite a while for them to finish our car.  So…Carter found ways to amuse himself:

  • He drove his matchbox car on the curb.
  • He stuck his hand in all the holes on the vending machines.
  • He stood on a rock to put tip money in the tip bucket.
  • He balanced on rocks and then walked from one to another.
  • He walked up and down a small hill to a drainage ditch about 15 times.
  • He tried to lift a big rock.
  • He succeeded in lifting a smaller rock and squatted down to peer under it for a while.
  • He brought me some boy treasuresincluding a piece of styrofoam, a dirty Lego, and a bottle cap.
  • He drove his cars on the sidewalk.
  • He drove his cars on the rocks - bump, bump, bump.
  • And he never let me get out of his sight…

He was very, very good and I smiled at how he entertained himself with exploring and doing all the things you think of when you think of little boys!  My precious son.
