Birthday Party Preparations
October 11, 2008 by Amy Jo.
Allison’s birthday party is today! We are having a Gymboree birthday party and we’re all very excited! She requested a “dolphin” birthday… Gymboree has an Ocean Adventure party theme so that is what we are going with! The party starts at 4 pm today!
INVITATIONS: We sent out seven invitations two weeks ago. We got five yes replies. Thirteen kids are coming (including Allison and Carter)! I made the invitations and Allison did the fish stickers!
CUPCAKES: Thanks to Aunt Cathy for a website with great cupcake ideas! And thanks to Nana for the Swedish Fish ocean creature candy!
LITTLE CUPCAKES: Some extra little cupcakes with pink frosting and chocolate sprinkles (Allison’s request).
GOODIE BAGS: Dolphin goodie bags from Oriental Trading.

Birthday Cupcakes for Preschool
October 7, 2008 by Amy Jo.
Allison’s preschool is celebrating her birthday at school tomorrow. (There is no school next week because of Fall Break.) This afternoon Allison and I made 2 dozen cupcakes! We also put together 22 little goodie bags for her classmates! I feel like a real Mom now that I am baking cupcakes for school! We had to go to Walmart this morning to buy a container to carry them in!
Here is the milk, egg, and soy free recipe I use for Allison’s cupcakes. The recipe is from my Food Allergy and Anaphalaxis Network cookbook. It makes great, moist cupcakes!

Eating Vegetables
October 7, 2008 by Amy Jo.
Some people have trouble getting their kids to eat vegetables… Monday morning, while Allison was at preschool, Carter “helped” me make Shepherd’s Pie. He liked the peas & carrots so well that he ate about half a cup of them straight from the freezer!

Hot Dogs On A Stick - Again!
September 11, 2008 by Amy Jo.
As I was making the kids Hot Dogs On A Stick again tonight, it occurred to me that maybe I could use this as a bribe to keep James from traveling too much! …Better come home before your kids turn into hot dogs from eating so many!
Tonight’s hot dogs were by request:
ME, to myself: What should we have for dinner?
CARTER: Dot dog!
Tonight’s meal was considerably less elaborate than last night’s. It wasn’t even photo worthy. Two hot dogs, pickles (vegetable), and Fritos (another vegetable). Fritos are made from corn, corn oil, and salt. If it wasn’t for the salt, I’d call them health food!
By the way - Daddy is home safely from his trip. Their landing was delayed because of the dust storm and he said there was a lot of turbulence. But he is home safely.
