Home - the place your story begins.
December 30, 2008 by Amy Jo.
It looks painted - but it is actually a vinyl sticker that I got at Hobby Lobby. I have been wanting one for ages! I have a neighbor who’s an Uppercase Living demonstrator and sells similar expressions. I’ve ordered a couple of things, but nothing this big and bold! I love it!
If you haven’t heard of Uppercase Living, you need to check out their website. Really cool stuff. Vinyl lettering that sticks on your wall - looks like it’s painted on, but peals off when you change decor.

Craft Show Update
November 15, 2008 by Amy Jo.
7 ponchos
one Rock Star bag
4 girls purses
8 felted bowls
55 pair of beaded socks
I SOLD
2 ponchos
3 girls purses
1 felted bowl
7 pair of beaded socks
Hummm. It’s a good thing Jim still has his day job!
I had an offer from our Gymboree Play & Music to bring my ponchos there to sell. I’m thinking that or www.etsy.com might be a more lucrative path to follow. But first, I am going to enjoy an evening without knitting! (I’m shocked that I just said that!)

Halloween Decorations
October 21, 2008 by Amy Jo.
Nana got these cute Halloween stickers/decals for us! They are completely removable and reposition-able. I put them on our laundry room door and the pantry door. Too cute!
Thanks Nana!

Rock Star Bag
October 15, 2008 by Amy Jo.
Here’s my latest knitting creation…
ROCK STAR BAG
Pattern designed by Kelly Deal of the BREEDERS.
Actual size is about 8″ X 10″.
This was a lot of fun to make. You knit it with non-superwashed wool - then throw it in the washing machine on hot and it shrinks to obtains a “felted” look. Way cool to see a large floppy thing go in to the washing machine and a cute fuzzy bag come out! The design is done with a “duplicate stitch” - which is, basically, stitching over your knitting to create a design. A lot like cross-stitching or embroidery. Fun!
I am also furiously working on more ponchos - I am planning on trying to sell the ponchos and maybe some other stuff at a craft show in 4 weeks! I’m nervous about it… but I think they will sell!

Sweater
September 27, 2008 by Amy Jo.
I knitted a sweater for Allison! A complete sweater! And it only took me about a week and a half! I said before… I am knitting like crazy! Next on the knitting list - a matching sweater for Carter.
I was told, once, that I always have a disclaimer in which I point out the flaws in whatever I have done… So I am going to refrain from doing that here and instead just be thrilled with my accomplishment. I’ve only been knitting since August! Considering that, this sweater is darn near perfect!
If you are so inclined, you can find the sweater instructions here.

Crochet Patterns
September 12, 2008 by Amy Jo.
Browsing around on the net today I found some great crochet patterns for really useful things! How about a reusable Swiffer cover? Or a Swiffer duster cover? Too cool! Click over to Gerkin’s Bucket Patterns and take a look!

Knitting and Crocheting
September 10, 2008 by Amy Jo.
I am Amy Jo Maruschak and I am addicted to knitting and crocheting.
Aunt Cathy is to blame. She pointed me to the Poncho pattern and now I am unstoppable!
Everyone can expect knitted or crocheted gifts for Christmas this year.
I am having a lot of fun! Below are a couple of the projects that I completed this week. Next on my agenda - learn how to purl. So far I have mastered knitting but I haven’t purled a stitch!
Enough blogging! I have to go knit!

Knitting
August 22, 2008 by Amy Jo.
While she was here, Aunt Cathy influenced me to start knitting a poncho for Allison. Allison and I picked out the pink yarn together - because pink is her favorite color. Take look at the picture - what a cute little girl! I had just finished the poncho and Allison wanted to wear it, despite the 100+ degree weather. I think it will be great for our Arizona winters!!
